Here Comes NaNoWriMo!

It’s OCTOBER! You know what that means? Besides pumpkin spice flavored everything. That’s right! It’s almost NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth – NaNoWriMo!

During the month of October, we’re going to get ready for diving into our story.

This week, we’re going to work with some random generators – these special websites produce surprise story ideas.

Scholastic Story Starters: If this link doesn’t work, type scholastic.com/teachers/story-starters into the web bar, or copy and paste it into the bar.

For this exercise, choose a genre (story category), and follow the prompts. The website will produce a random (and sometimes funny) story idea. Don’t like the idea it comes up with? You may try the generator up to three times. After three tries, you’ll need to pick one of the ideas and go with it.

Create a Google Doc, share it with me,write the prompt at the top and begin your story. DO NOT write your story directly on the Scholastic site.

This does NOT have to be your NaNoWriMo story, but it CAN be if you like it.

We’ll end class a few minutes early so those who would like to can share their work.

This is a required assignment, even if you know what you’re going to write in November.
